ArtsBridge
In 2003, the Big Sur Arts Initiative embarked on a new arm of programming designed to support local artists through professional development and marketing assistance. With generous support from the Packard Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation, and the Arts Council for Monterey County, ArtsBridge has reached over 100 Big Sur artists through the facilitation of workshops, sponsorship of exhibitions, a published catalog of Big Sur artists distributed throughout Monterey County, an artist-in-residence program designed in cooperation with the Big Sur Land Trust, an online listserv for central communication of artist opportunties, and online marketing for Big Sur artists through individual web pages on the Big Sur Arts Initiative site.
Now ArtsBridge serves Big Sur artists with more initiatives than ever before. In the coming year with the guidance of ArtsBridge Manager Lisa Goettel, the program will include:
- More professional development workshops for artists;
- An improved and expanded Artist-in-Residence program;
- Regular announcements of current artist opportunities;
- A new Artist Showcase Series promoting Big Sur artists throughout the Central Coast; and
- A re-designed and expanded online gallery that Big Sur artists can easily update themselves and use to sell and promote their work to a wide audience.
