StageKids! - The Show Must Go On....

That's our attitude here at Big Sur Arts Initiative regarding this years StageKids! Performing Arts Camp. Although the first week was cancelled due to the Basin Complex Fire evacuation, we are offing two full weeks (July 14 - 18 and July 21 - 25) of camp in Big Sur beginning Monday, July 14.

Please join us at the Friday evening performances! These are open to the public at 7pm at the Grange Hall on July 18 & 25. Entry is $5 and there is a community potluck before the show at 5:30.

2008 Big Sur Artist in Residence Program: Call to Artists!

The Big Sur Arts Initiative and The Big Sur Land Trust are dedicated to advancing the work of professional artists in California, and have collaborated to create an Artist in Residence program in Big Sur at Glen Deven Ranch. The vision of the program is to support professional artists with intensive studio time and a small stipend in a quiet and beautiful location, while bringing creative vitality to the community of Big Sur.

NOTE! Due to a two week office closure during the Basin Complex Fire, the application deadline has been extended to July 25th.

Christmas in July

The StageKids! staff is thrilled to be enjoying the amazing Grange Hall renovations this year. And with the renovations, we said goodbye to much of our degrading costume supply. We need your help!

We have created an Amazon wish list, where you can purchase new costumes for our kids to enjoy, tools for the Children's Garden, and other needed office and art supplies. Use that economic stimulus check to shop for the arts!

See Our Amazon Wishlist

We also welcome donations of gently used costumes. You can bring them to the BSAI office at the Village Shops - Tuesday - Friday, 10am-4pm.

BSAI Featured in Carmel Pine Cone

The last issue of the Pine Cone in 2007 featured an interview with BSAI staff members Karen Blades and Lisa Goettel.

Artists who are part or full-time residents of Big Sur are encouraged to join ArtsBridge, and receive access to all the opportunities and support it provides.
